I was diagnosed after I had went to my gynecologist with what I thought was a boil or cyst that just wouldn’t go away. After a few weeks of antibiotics and her attempting to lance it in office to no avail. She performed a WLE (wide local incision) August 25 2017, I remember coming out of the anesthesia, not fully functional and she just bluntly just stated, “You have cancer, I’m not sure what kind”. Next thing I know, it was less than a week later and I was sitting in a gynecological oncologist office, with an official diagnosis. Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the bartholin gland/Vulvar cancer. I’ve had two recurrences since my initial diagnosis and a total of 6 surgeries and 33 rounds of radiation therapy. One of my surgeries had a complication and “Bitch’n Betty was born. Betty is my ostomy. I had to have a loop colostomy performed after I developed a recto-vaginal fistula after my second partial radical vulvectomy. After 9 months, she has been given the green light to be reversed.
